"With Maelstrom Protocol’s subtly malevolent admix of DIY ditties, Full Crumb insinuate themselves into Fall Break Records’ growing roster. Inveterate stalwarts of the English indie underworld’s dimmer recesses, the band’s emergence on the Athens GA based label represents a typically spurious development – and one that speaks to the band's willingness for spreading rapture and disquiet wherever they can.
Maelstrom Protocol is the band’s sixth album and traverses lo-fi post-punk, kraut-psych, and experimental pop, opening with the irrepressible beat-box driven “Vanity Case” before promptly collapsing in a heap at the gates of the sleepy “Cactus Factory”. The pace then picks up with a purposeful, proto-kraut shite-gaze number, “By Default and Design” – spiced liberally with infusions of shortwave radio and swirling phase guitar. Other highlights include the spastic bombastic “Chrome Bisons”, the sickened syncopation of “Instructions From a Severed Head”, and the surly, perverse ethereality of closing marathon groove workout, “Free Fall Viaduct”.
Maelstrom Protocol will be released on December 9th 2014 as a short run of cassettes in numbered editions with hand-rendered artwork for each copy. Given Full Crumb’s continual and self-confessedly misplaced loyalty to multi-tracking their songs on Tascam tape recorders, this choice of format has nothing to do with a hipsterish embrace of the cute mummified technology of yesteryear and everything to do with the band’s intransigent Luddite mindset. Which is more damning? You the listener must decide."

Weaving together strands of neo shite-gaze, dark ambient turntablism and ornery, downhome crud-step, Full Crumb create a crude hessian cowl to cloak the hideous visage of existential dread that confronts an entire generation. And how! But first, let us dispel once and for all the many pernicious rumours that have sprung up around the band relating to charges of wholesale plagiarism and petty musical larceny. For whilst it is true that they have fallen foul of the many formalities and protocols adhered to by indie pop scenesters, their consciences remain conspicuously free from all signs of taint and blemish.
Quite why remains a mystery - to those on the outside. But to insiders the answer is only too obvious. It can be heard in every nuance of the band’s sound – whether in the strident cacophony of their more rousing moments, or in the hushed intimacy of songs such as Languishing Bile, Tundra Snails or the unforgettable crowd pleaser, Skype Gurn (Zippos aloft, y’all).
