Following on the heels of Palmer’s excellent full length “Unblinking Sun”, “Fables” combines a formerly online-only EP with three previously unreleased tracks making up side two. Side one opens with the bummer raga “Twenty Six Spires”, then proceeds into the bouyant “Greensward”, a chiming psychedelic folk tune. “Plotlines” returns to haunting raga, followed by the hushed acoustic excursion “The Desert Tortoise Preservation Society”. Side two, featuring three previously unreleased tracks, begins with two acoustic folk ditties and closes with an epic eight minute atmospheric drone.
About Steve Palmer:
Steve Palmer is a guitarist from Minneapolis MN combining Takoma style folk and blues influences with avant, drone, and noise elements. Palmer is a John Fahey obsessive and took lessons from Takoma legend Peter Lang as well as Chris Forsyth, whose "Intensity Ghost" LP topped many best-of lists for 2014.
